Christmas 2003 was very special for me. My husband had been wanting to get me something very special for a long time, an exact and authentic sword just like the one used by my 25th great-grandfather, Somerled, Lord of the Isles in 12th century Scotland. I had finished opening all my gifts when my husband and son announced that they had forgotten one. They left the room and shortly returned carrying a huge wooden box between them, which they presented to me. I pulled away the Royal Blue Satin to reveal the sword of my dreams! This isn't a play sword, it's the real thing, capable of taking a man's head off. To say that I was speechless is an understatement. This sword will be mounted in a prominent spot and will hold pride of place.

This is the first, original Somerled sword made by Thomas Yeudall. It is now available for purchase, but mine will be marked in his archives as the original.

This sword was forged by the Master Sword smith Thomas Yeudall of Claymore Armoury, Hurlford, By Kilmarnoch, Ayrshire, Scotland, KA1 5HY.

If you would like a sword forged by Thomas Yeudall send him a letter. Keep in mind that his swords are not cheap imitations used for re-enactments. These are the real thing, made with the best steel, and will cost you anywhere from £350 to thousands of £££'s. Well worth the price for a sword of Master Craftsmanship.
